At Svane & Lührs we love the jewellery stones - in all the pretty colours and shapes.
All our jewellery is made of sterling silver and quality materials like genuine leather, freshwater pearls, cubic zirconia and jewellery stones. We use jewellery stones in our jewellery because of their beauty and durability, but also because we love the beautiful colours they come in.
The jewellery stones in our charms, bracelets, pendants and rings are either faceted or polished, giving each piece its own unique expression - and with all the numerous colours, you can definitely find a jewellery stone that is the right one for you. Here you can read about the various jewellery stones, we use in our collections that give the jewellery the final touch.
At Svane & Lührs you find the agate in a red, polished variant in our rings and charms. The agate stone is said to provide confidence and personal strength - and is lucky stone for Gemini, Scorpio and Taurus. The red agate stone was earlier found in Germany, but most stones now come from South America.
The amethyst is one of our most popular jewellery stones, because of its beautiful purple colour and we use th purple amethyst stone in many of our charms and rings. The purple amethyst stone is a part of the quartz family and is mainly found in Brazil, Uruguay and Madagascar. Throughout the ages several supernatural qualities has been ascribed to the amethyst, including bringing good luck, making firm, repealing sorcery and curing homesickness. As a lucky stone the amethyst is associated with Friday and February and with the signs of zodiac, Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Sagittarius and Scorpio. The amethyst means sincerity.
The carneol is a characteristic red precious stone, mainly found in India and Brazil. We use the red carneol jewellery stone in our charms or pendants in a red, polished version. In the past the stone was believed to stop bleedings or anger and is today a lucky stone for Pisces, Taurus, Virgo and Cancer.
The chalcedony is a beautiful jewellery stone that varies in the range of colours from blue to whitish gray - and at Svane & Lührs you find the chalcedony in both a faceted and polished version in our charms and pendants. The jewellery stone is widespread and is today found mainly in Brazil, India, Madagascar and Uruguay. The stone is said to have a calming effect on the mind and body.
The chrysoprase is the most valuable chalcedony stone and is a green jewellery stone that varies in shade. In the past the most important finding of this beautiful gemstone was in Poland, but the stone is today mainly found in Australia, USA, Russia and South Africa. The green jewellery stone is associated with the month of May and is said to have a calming effect, to be a symbol of the nature's fertility and lucky stone for the Gemini.
The yellow citrine is named after the lemon due to its yellow colour and the jewellery stone is presented in various colours - from the delicate pale yellow to browner shades. The citrine is found in Brazil, Madagascar, France, Spain, USA and Scotland. At Svane & Lührs we use the yellow stone in our charms and pendants, and as lucky stone the citrine is associated with the month of November. The citrine means fidelity and friendship.
The hematite stone is presented in grey, black and red with a metallic radiance and the stone has its name from the Greek word for blood. We use the dark stone in a polished version in our jewellery from Svane & Lührs. The shiny precious stone is mainly found in large parts of Europe, Brazil, the United States or New Zealand, is a lucky stone for Aries and Scorpio and is said to have a positive effect on internal physical problems.
The jade stone is first and foremost a green stone, but also white, violet and black, and the jade is mainly found in China, Poland, Mexico and Canada. The jewellery stone is associated with several positive qualities, including providing safety and positive thoughts, strengthening the body physically and the green gemstone is lucky stone for Pisces, Virgo, Cancer and Libra and for the month of May. Jade also means success in love. At Svane & Lührs we use the jade in our charms and pendant in a polished variant.
The labradorite stone has its name after the Labrador Island, where the jewellery stone initially was discovered in 1770. The jewellery dark stone has a glossy, multi-coloured metallic glow in blue and green tones. The jewellery stone is found in Canada, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia and the United States - and is said to provide inspiration, well-being and energy to its carrier, and the stone is furthermore associated to the signs of Zodiac, Sagittarius, Scorpio and Leo. The moonstone is a bright stone with a pearlescent glow, found mainly in the Australian and Asian continent. The stone is said to have a protective effect, creating fertility and being lucky stone for Cancer, Pisces and Capricorn and associated with the month of June. The stunning jewellery stone is available in many of our charms in both a faceted and polished version.
Opal is the Old Norse name for precious stone and the opals colour spectrum covers may colours including blue, green, white, black, orange and gray. The precious stone has a fantastic play of colours with a pearlescent glow when viewed from different angles. The opal is originally from Hungary and is today also found in Australia, Brazil, Japan, Honduras and Guatemala. The stone has previously had several significances and is said to have a positive impact on our creativity, dreams, happiness and energy and is lucky stone for Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio, Aquarius, Sagittarius and Taurus. The moonstone means a long life and health.
Onyx is a dark jewellery stone, primarily presented in a black variant. The stone is from South America and India and is said to give authority and energy. It is lucky stone for the Capricorn and associated with the weekday, Saturday. We use the elegant black jewellery stone in Svane & Lührs' charms, rings and earrings.
One of the oldest jewellery stones is the green peridot, which is found in both the Asian, South American and African continent and in the Middle Ages the stone was used in particular to decorate the church furniture. As lucky stone the peridot is associated with the month of August and is furthermore said to have a positive effect on personal development and the ability to forgive others. The peridot means protection and dignity. We use the peridot in the Svane & Lührs' jewellery, especially the charms, pendants and earrings.
The prasiolit jewellery stone is also part of the quartz family and is a light green stone that was found in Brazil in the 1950s, where the stone appeared in a heating of amethysts and citrines. The stone is said to prevent insomnia and to give confidence during examinations.
Prehnite is a green jewellery stone from Australia, China, Scotland, South Africa and the United States, that looks a lot like the chrysopras. The bright green jewellery stone is said to be a source of inspiration for the carrier. We use the prehnite in both the faceted and polished version in many of our charms.
Pyrite is a dark, goldish jewellery stone, named after the word for fire in Greek, as you can strike sparks from the stone. The jewellery stone is found all over the world and is often confused with real gold and called fool's gold because of its shiny gold colour. Pyrite is said to give inner strength and is lucky stone for Cancer.
The smoky quartz is found all over the world and has its name after its translucent, smoke-coloured look. The jewellery stone is said to be lucky stone for Sagittarius and Capricorn and furthermore to have a positive effect on both the physical and mental condition. We use the faceted smoky quarts in the Svane & Lührs' charms.
The rose quartz is a bright crystal, presented in many bright red and pink hues and the jewellery stone is found in Brazil and Madagascar. Rose quartz is a mild gemstone that is said to have a calming effect and to be the lucky stone for Libra and Taurus. We use the delicate pink jewellery stone in the Svane & Lührs' charms and pendants in both polished and faceted version.
The topaz is found in several places all over the world, including Brazil, Sri Lanka, Africa and Australia, but also in parts of Europe. The topaz stone comes in numerous shades and colours, but the yellow is the most widespread. In Svane & Lührs' collection you can find the jewellery stone in a fine light blue colour, white, lime or smoke-coloured. As a lucky stone the topaz is associated with the weekday Sunday and the month of October and with the sign of zodiac, Gemini, Leo, Aquarius and Sagittarius. The white topaz means purity and innocence and in general the topaz means fidelity and friendship.
At Svane & Lührs we often use cubic zirconia, CZ, in our collections, because it gives the jewellery the final touch. The zirconia can give the charms, pendants, rings and necklaces a sparkle like a real diamond and at the same time it has a great durability. The zirconia is known for its strong brilliance and is presented in white, yellow, blue and red colours. The zirconia is found worldwide, including Thailand, France, Australia and parts of Africa. As lucky stone the small zirconia is associated with the month of December - and means prosperity and piety.
